The commissary at Fort Leavenworth is located at 310 Kansas Avenue Building #691.
Its hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 0900-1900 and Sunday from 1100-1600.
Early bird hours are offered from 0700-0900 every day but Sunday. The commissary is very busy right around 5pm. Later than that and it is fine.
It is almost October, 2014 and our Commissary is 99% complete. The only thing left is to finish the produce section. It is really nice. There is a nice section on Gluten Free products. However the GF products are also found in their respective places. What this means is you need to check the pasta isle and the GF isle to find what you want. There will be GF pasta in both locations.
Our commissary is currently under construction. They are renovating it and making it larger. It is due to be finished in the fall of 2014. The reason it is taking so long is they are renovating while it is still open. When you come into the commissary you will be on the side with the produce and everything except dairy. Dairy, and frozen vegetables, ice cream, etc are in the other half of the store. To get there you walk past the check out into the new area.
The commissary is not large. I would say it is a medium sized commissary. They do run out of some fresh produce on pay day weekend. I would suggest shopping early. They do have forms for special orders. If there is something that another commissary carries you can order it in.
Organic: Their produce selection is about the same as other commissaries when it comes to organic. You will find potatoes, carrots, celery, and some fruits. They do carry organic spaghetti sauces. I have not been able to find any organic eggs yet. However, there are a lot of bare spots in the egg section. I am hoping they do carry them.
The commissary at Fort Leavenworth offers many different departments including the bakery, deli and salad bar. For more information, call 913-684-4903 or email alice.miller@deca.mil.
